In Alaska Studies class you will learn about the beginnings
of known human existence in Alaska and the modern day development of the state
of Alaska. We will take a journey around Alaska learning about how the various
people arrived in Alaska and why they stayed.
From Nome to Juneau, to Kotzebue to Hoonah- we will explore what made
these cities and villages come to exist. We will learn about the many cultures that thrive in Alaska. You will be encouraged to
participate. This is your class. I am here to guide you and it is up to you
how we proceed. You will be expected to
do a lot of reading for this class. We
will do group reading as well as reading on your own. Work as a team in this
class, just like you would on a sports or academic team. You are all a team and must work together to
help each other learn! We will also
learn a variety of note taking skills that you can use in all of your classes.
