Welcome to World History. In this class your journey will start off where the Ancient Civilizations class ended at the fall of Rome between 450 AD and 500 AD. We then travel on through time to the Middle Ages in Europe and Asia. After spending time in the cold and damp castles of the Middle Ages, we will take a warm vacation to the ancient Polynesians of the Pacific. I'm looking forward to teaching about the ancient Polynesians since I spent 6 months sailing from Panama to Fiji in a 40-foot sailboat in 2006. We will then travel on to the build-up of World War I and the aftermath that set up the countries and dynamics that lead to World War II. This will bring us into more recent events such as the Cold War and the break up of the Soviet Union. At the end of the year, you should have a good understanding of the events that shaped our world. It is my philosophy that history is the study of life, life is the result of choices made in the past, and the choices you make in life determine your destiny! So learn as much as you can, ask questions, work hard, and gain knowledge.
